5 Spring Party Themes for Your Kid’s Birthday!
April showers bring May flowers and a whole bunch of new party ideas for your kid's birthday. Spring birthdays can be tough because you never know what the weather is going to be like. Cold? Warm? Rainy?
If you're planning an outdoor kid's birthday party, be sure to have a backup plan or an alternative date ready to go, just in case the weather changes! Most parents understand last-minute hiccups, so don't be overly worried to ask for a different drop-off location, time, or reschedule the day altogether. You could even mention this on the invitation, so they have a heads up the party is weather permitting.
But weather aside, here are Party Stuff's top theme ideas for your child's spring birthday!
1. A Crafty Birthday Party
An arts and crafts-themed birthday party is always a safe bet and an awesome time. Host the party indoors or outdoors, have a flexible drop-off time, and you can have multiple projects on the go so the kids are never bored.
Be warned: it gets messy. You're going to want a lot of newspaper or tarps laid down and don't feel like you have to invest in top-notch gear. The dollar store is everybody's friend.
Some of our favourite arts and crafts for kids are scrapbooking, tie-dying clothes, decorating mugs, painting wooden items, making puppets, finger painting... the list goes on! The most in-demand themed craft kits at Party Stuff are:
- -- Super Mario Brothers Craft Kit
- -- Disney/Pixar Toy Story 4 Craft Kit
- -- Disney Frozen 2 Craft Kit
- -- Peppa Pig Confetti Party Craft Kit
Even though your theme is arts and crafts, you can make it more specific like hosting a Frozen 2 arts and crafts party or a Mario Brothers arts and crafts party. Either way, party decorations are easy.
For a standard arts and crafts party, the supplies will speak for the theme, but you can add colourful balloons and streamers. For a themed craft night, go all out with themed balloons, banners, plates, cups, etc.
2. A Day at the Beach Kid's Party
If you live in Canada, you know there's really no way to have a beach party in the spring. So instead, how about hosting the beach-themed birthday party at an indoor pool or hotel pool for a few hours?!
A lot of city pools and hotels have the option of renting out a party room where you can hang decorations and serve food and cake! To get your party room feeling beachy, you'll need palm tree props, a beach wave insta-mural, hanging fish lanterns, and a tropical table setting.
Party Stuff can even take your beach-themed birthday party and make it into a Hawaii getaway with hula skirts, multicolour Hawaiian Lei's, Luau table decorating kit, and an Aloha door curtain.
3. A Classic Tea Party
Party Stuff's favourite classic choice is a tea party! It's one of our favourite themes for a kid's party because it's so versatile. Host the party indoors or outdoors, intergrade it with another theme like Alice in Wonderland, add in some after-tea activities, and do it all on a budget!
Our top tips for a tea party-themed birthday:
- -- Source your tea cups from a local thrift store.
- -- For an outdoor party, find a park with a large bench or host it at your place picnic style.
- -- Have an after-tea activity like painting tea cups or musical chairs, duck duck goose, or a tea bag scavenger hunt!
Party favours are a no-brainer with this theme: their teacup, an assortment of teas, dainties like mini scones, and a themed colouring book. Consider stopping at Party Stuff for some lace doilies, place cards, faux pearl necklaces, and of course balloons and other decorations you may need!
4. An Easter-Themed Kids Party
Having a birthday near a holiday can usually be a bummer. Often the birthday is overshadowed or their friends can't attend because of conflicting schedules. Easter is a slight exclusion because not everyone's family hosts an event on Easter, plus it's not really a gift-giving-based holiday.
If your child's birthday is around Easter, plan a party for a day or two after the holiday. This way you can reuse easter decorations or serve leftover desserts. The kids can talk about their easter celebration and play their favourite holiday activities together.
Party Stuff's Egg Mazing Decorator is perfect for either party and we have adorable pastel decorations like the hanging circles or mini hot stamp lanterns for a more birthday feel.
5. A Little Farmers Themed Party
Throw a farm-themed birthday party! This is another one that you can host inside or outside. Have everyone dress up in denim, plaid, and cowboy hats.
If you have extra room in your budget, going to a local farm or petting zoo would be a fantastic experience for the kids. But, there is a lot of planning and expenses around that activity, so bringing the farm to your house through decorations is just as good! Our top decorations for a little farmers-themed party:
You can play classic games like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, rope toss, and horseshoes. If you're crafty, you could even make DIY stick horses!
Bonus theme party: Sleepover Party!
When we were kids, nothing was more fun than a sleepover party! The best part about this party is you can pick any theme to go with it. Just have all the guests bring over a sleeping bag and pillow.
You could just have them sleep on the floor or if you want to make it a little more like camping, you could set up a tent either outside or inside. Add in our galaxy-themed table settings and some marshmallows, and you're set.
There are even some places now that will rent you everything you need, including tents! Pretty cool, huh?
We hope we inspired you with these 5 spring party ideas. Here's to hoping your kid's birthday is a memorable one this year!
